April G. Adams founded Corporate Destination Services of Arizona on the basis of taking her experience in both the secondary and adult education and meeting planning fields to greater heights by instilling in her colleagues and vendors a sense of ownership of each event and program that she orchestrates. She has taken the notion of caring and trust and built a respect among her peers for her strength of character and dedication to professionalism.
The philosophy of building a small business through community involvement and giving back has been demonstrated numerous times in the past years by April's participation in fund-raising for such causes as AIDS-related Charities, Muscular Dystrophy, the Cancer Society and through her participation as a board member of The Head Start Program of Maricopa County, Phoenix Youth at Risk, and Native Nations Community Partners. April has acted as chairman of the Education Committee, Educational Retreat Committee, Sponsorship Committee and board liaison for the Sponsorship Committee and Membership Committee for Meeting Professionals International in Phoenix, instilling in young meeting professional an enthusiasm and devotion to ethical business practices in the meetings industry. Her meeting and programs presented on a monthly basis have lead to a significant increase in attendance.
April has been an active member on the board of the Phoenix Chapter of the National Association for Women Business Owners (NAWBO). Her function was to develop and encourage NAWBOARDS to thrive in their specific geographic locations. She was also chair of the Business Development Committee, a program enabling Corporate Sponsors to network with members at evening functions and was on their Board holding the position of Secretary. April's philosophy for NAWBO is to help it develop into an even more influential organization in the community, while it continues to encourage and support women-owned businesses.
As member of Meeting Professionals International, she has chaired many committees, receiving the "Greatest Committee Achievement" award and "Rising Star" award her first year. She has served on the Board of Directors. April has been a member of the Society for International Travel Executives (SITE) and the Society of Government Meeting Planners (SGMP).
